UK four-piece Oriza aren’t ones to go along with the status quo. Their setup consists of two vocalists (one of whom is also responsible for noise), two bassists and a drummer, and the result of this unique lineup is an utterly corrosive amalgamation of several genres. The band’s maximalist approach to heavy music makes for a listening experience that will leave you bruised and bloody, blending frenetic, caustic grindcore with sludgy stomps and angular rhythms that keep you on your toes, and all of it comes drenched in oppressive feedback just to make things even more overwhelming.
Astral Noize were proud to be able to release the band’s self-titled EP through Astral Noize Records a couple of years ago, and we’re just as honoured to now be bringing you the music video for ‘In Blood’, a ruthless track if there ever was one. The accompanying video suits the song’s antagonistic and ultra-heavy style brilliantly, so check it out below and be sure to listen to the full EP if you’re yet to, because right now you’re missing out.
The band are currently working on a debut full-length, which they’re aiming to record this year (Covid permitting) at Wayne Adams’ Bear Bites Horse Studios, and they’re also currently hinting at an upcoming release championing heavy renditions of old emo favourites – stay tuned to their Facebook for more details on that. Depending on how things go in the UK, the band may well be one of the first you’ll be able to see live too, with the band booked to play Brighton’s rescheduled NovFemmeber Fest on 23rd May.
