Album Premiere: Cultum Draculesti – Antigone The Martyr

Black metal is at its best when the coarse riffs, sinister shrieks and rough-around-the-edges production are in service of a chilling atmosphere, and this is much is evident mere moments into Antigone The Martyr, the brand new full-length from Dionysos Capsalis.

As Cultum Draculesti, Capsalis has crafted a dark, brooding album with a punky energy but one that’s underpinned by a latent elegance. The ominous guitars and hoarse cries make the album sufficiently heavy, but it’s not so much confrontational as it is spellbinding, likely to ensnare the listener before taking the killer blow. As far as black metal goes, Antigone The Martyr is less werewolf and more vampire.

The album is available now courtesy of Grimalkin Records, and we’re thrilled to be bringing this stream to you on the day of release. Be sure to head to the Bandcamp to check out the record now – all tape proceeds from the release are going to Ceyenne Doroshow’s G.L.I.T.S. (Gays & Lesbians Living in a Transgender Society), whilst digital funds support the artist and the lathe proceeds help with Grimalkin Records’ expenses.

Antigone The Martyr is out now on Grimalkin Records. Order here.
