If you ever needed a solid example in favour of the notion that music is inspired by the environment in which it is created, you need look no further than the sludge hotbed that has sprung up in the Steel City over the past several years. And the latest album from trio Naisian, their first full-length in almost a decade, is set to bolster the Sheffield scene even further when it drops later this month.
Following on from 2018 EP Rejoinder, the aptly-named album, Metal, builds upon the band’s versatile sound, which uses the slowed-down aggression of sludge as a jumping off point, incorporating touches of post-metal and noise rock into their industrial sound as well as taking wild detours through noise passages, synth interludes and more.
Today, we’re thrilled to bring you a glimpse at this dynamic album with the video for ‘Asteroid’, an apocalyptic track with a gloomy video to match. Check it out below!
Metal is out 25th September on Sludgelord Records. Order here.
