If you’d told us a couple of years ago that a bunch of dudes in beekeeper suits creating sci-fi sludge would become one of the UK’s finest metal acts, we’d probably think you’d lost your mind a little bit. But Wallowing are fast becoming just that, quickly establishing themselves as one of the most exciting names in extreme music off the back of their imposing 2019 debut Planet Loss. The band have a knack for embracing sci-fi’s ability to comment on the world around us, with the record addressing issues like climate change, bigotry and mental health. Now, the band are taking a stand once again, releasing a ruthless live track simultaneously through Astral Noize Records, Sludgelord Records and their own Bandcamp, with proceeds going exclusively to the NHS. The minimum donation is just £1.
If you’ve never been lucky enough to catch the band live, this is as close as you’ll get to the gargantuan wall of noise they create on stage. It is taken from their debut headline set at Nottingham’s Stuck On A Name Studios on 7th March 2020, alongside Mastiff, Christwvrks and FilthxCollins, and was mixed and mastered by Ian “Boulty” Boult at Stuck On A Name Studios. The cover photo was taken by Natasha Edgington, with art by Mark Roberts.
